Submission FAQ

The Rice Examiner accepts social science papers written by Rice Undergraduates for consideration for publication in our annual journal.

Papers ~10 pages or longer are considered for our journal, shorter papers are considered for publication on our website.

Submit by emailing the paper in word document form to riceexaminer@gmail.com

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I submit a paper with multiple authors?

Yes, as long as all authors consent to submission and publication.

Can I submit a paper written for class?

Yes, we welcome papers written for social science classes, as well as papers written for independent research..

Does the paper have to have been written at Rice University?

The paper must be written by a current Rice Undergraduate, but it could have been written while at a former institution or during a study abroad program.

Can alumni submit papers?

Recent graduates (having graduated within the last year) may submit to the journal.

Can I submit a paper I wrote a few years ago?

Yes!

Is there a maximum length?

Papers above 20 pages will likely not be fit for publication, and ought to be cut down.

What happens after I submit?

Your paper is anonymously reviewed by two editors. Whether or not we decide to publish your paper you will receive those edits, which is a constructive process.
